to Tom McGuinness

Hi Tom, Firstly we were so sorry to read about your accident, just wish we had heard sooner but by the sounds of things you have your head well above it now and being the fighter you always were and always will be you will over come this, the only thing is Margaret is a bit miffed about your chair you have the Porche and she has the Dell Boy Special.

I think you must be a bit confused it is Johnny (Geordie Jnr) who is in Aussie land although we have had a couple of trips visiting them. Unfortunately we are still in sunny Livingston same house but with plenty changes to it.

Still working away nothing else for it, I will give you my e-mail address and will get in touch to give you more info - barty1@blueyonder.co.uk

it was great hearing from you please give our regards to Jackie, hope to hear from you soon

By Robert McAllister on Friday, December 16, 2005 - 03:13 pm:

Terry Mucker,

Did I tell you I bumped into old Tam Weaver back in October? He is well and living in Drumchaple, not under a bridge. He suffered a stroke a few years back but is fine.

All our love to you, Linda and Boston. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New year.

Send my regards to all the Platoon.

By Stevie Tidy on Friday, January 13, 2006 - 11:48 am:

Adam,

My house is in Livingston but have to stay at the college in Kincardine during the week. I have just less than two years to do here then I will go back on the beat hopefully back to West Lothian somewhere. The job here is great but it's not as strict as the Army and the probationers are classed as students so there is a lot of academic stuff to teach. Are you going to come up for a reunion when the battalion get back?

Terry,

Long time no here I'm doing well got two kids now which take up all my weekends.

Rab,

I'm not really working for a living as the job is really easy here compared to working on the beat but it's a great laugh with lot's of drinking involved. Speak to you soon.

My father was a Yeoman Sigs(bunten tossers ??) in the RN. HMS Spragge ( Destroyer group) his brother was also a sparker on the HMS Indefatigable.

On my passing out parade at the depot he was asked by the CO what he thought about me joining the Army He said " He could have done a lot better by joining the Navy!!!!Nice start to my career.

STILL VERY POETIC DICK, HOW ARE YOU MATE? HI RAB C HOWS THINGS WITH YOU? DOES ANYONE HERE FROM WE TAM PATON THESE DAYS?

By Dick Davidson (Dickdavidson) on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 - 09:35 am:

Sanny

Got a problem at the moment with noisy neighbours.

Don't know quite how to handle this.

I suppose I could rap him on the jaw but that wouldn't solve anything.

I've put everything in writing to pass to the Environmental Health people but they keep passing me to the polis who keep passing me to the H.E.

Any suggestions?

Yours Aye

Dick

By SANNY REID (Sanny) on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 - 01:18 pm:

yes speak to your local mp and tell him you are getting passed about from pillar to post and then tell H.E. to stop passing you about as its there job to sort it out, then just keep a diary of the problems you are having with dates and times, pointless decking him unless you can do it so he dont know it is you as he probably get thje polis and get you done mate

By Gary McCulluch (Garymac) on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 - 06:18 pm:

By Gary McCulluch (Garymac) on Friday, October 13, 2006 - 08:43 am:

LOL always remember getting marched down to scoff with the RP's and having to put out our arms when turning the corner to indicate which wway we where turing and when we had to mark time they got us to raise both our arms , just like the hazard warning lights on a car, •••• some good and bad memorys and sorme sore legs and arms in the stress postions in that guardroom

Sanny

i re-enlisted when the guardroom at glencorse was mainly RHF, the KOSB was their because of what happened in northern ireland, i think i'm right in saying,i renlisted in 91, do you remember my 1st day back, in the morning i fell in behind the new platoon at glencorse outside the cookhouse, you and ivan told me just to go in with you's, but i stayed in the queue, anyway the cookhouse full screw was skelping all the bayonets at the hotplate, when he got to me i set about him, he ran in to the PS area wanting me jailed, you and ivan told him to F- off, and i eat my meals with you 2 and sat in the guardroom the rest of the time.

Cheers

By Gary McCulluch (Garymac) on Saturday, October 14, 2006 - 11:02 am:

ffs rab i wish i seen that, would have made my week :-)

By Rab (Theguvnor216) on Saturday, October 14, 2006 - 04:13 pm:

Gary

I re-enlisted in Aug 91, i was at the depot for a week, when i got back to Cambridge i was picked up at the station by Billy Clinton,he told that the Bn was on leave, after doing a KAPE tour, i was told to go on leave, but i choose to go on rear party as Glasgow had done my head in, when the Bn returned i got sent to 9 Plt C Coy, and went to Ft Irwin in California for 6 weeks, what a buzz, my time in 9 Platoon was by far the best time i had in the Army, a certain Scott Greig says i ended his career when i arrived in Charlie Choy.

On a more serious note,

The Environmental Health people are going to put in recording equipment.

But here get this, they can't do it until the neighbours are informed that it's going to happen.

Whats the point? they will only stop for as long as the equipment is in. Still at least i might get a weekend sleep.

Sorry Dick the old grey matter is seeping oot ma ears these days, Remind me.

By Dick Davidson (Dickdavidson) on Friday, October 20, 2006 - 08:10 pm:

WULLIE,

I was 3 platoon, my plt sgt was big Tam Patterson. Ronnie Kane and Ewan Black were the full screws.

Anyhoo we were out on patrol on the Border in a hiding position in the Caledon Estate. I was on the L.M.G when a car burst past heading towards the border.

All of a sudden LT (fluffy) Scott went tearing of after the car, only to head back at twice the speed chased by a herd of cows. Of course it was smuggling and not terrorist activity.

The end result was we had to mind these cows for the weekend hence the nickname "the cowboy platoon"

By Wullie McK (Wulliemckechnie) on Saturday, October 21, 2006 - 11:58 am:

I remember it now as if it was yesterday some laughs on that tour, Like stealing the chogies tick book, I wonder who done that lol. And tieing bacon strips to his door handle so he couldnt get out,

By Dick Davidson (Dickdavidson) on Saturday, October 21, 2006 - 01:20 pm:

WULLIE.

Now who could that have been? Maybe the "Swamp Rats" pmsl.

I remember wee McMahon on the front VCP belting a big guy in the belly only to discover he belted a belt buckle result a broken hand.

Do you remember wee Hammy "cows eyes" ? I'll never forget Canada when Ronnie Kane told him to tell the Tankies to move up during live field firing.

Wee Hammy didn't know about the tank telephone and was stood behind this lumbering beast of a chieftan shouting f~~~~ing move would ye.

Or when him and Ronnie were in a trench with the 84mm and Hammy let one go without even thinking about the backblast.

All I remember was the trench collapsing and two heads sticking out the dirt. lol

Oh and by the way me and wee Cush still wrote the best song to come out of NI, when i'm famous he's in for a lotta dosh pmsl.

Yours aye
