The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada visit on 12 May 2018

Twelve members of The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada were recently welcomed to the Museum by General Euan Loudon, Chairman of the Regimental Trust.

Our visitors were particularly interested to see our exhibition concerning CANLOAN: a remarkable scheme that enabled 673 Canadian Army officers to volunteer to join regiments of the British Army. The Canadians fought in Europe from D-Day until the end of the hostilities, with a casualty rate of 75% and nearly 100 awards for bravery. Captain (Major) Delmar (Del) Struck, M.C.,C.D was one of fifty officers who served with our two antecedent regiments (The Royal Scots Fusiliers & The Highland Light Infantry) and we are proud to display his battledress blouse and medals.

General Loudon presented Honorary Colonel Brian Rainville with a commemorative slate and all visitors received a coaster as momento of their visit.
